When the two current handicap parking spaces were set at each end of 142 Federal Street in front of the Courthouse everyone entered through the massive
FRONT DOOR. Then security was set up at the rear entrance with zero handicap spaces. Just parking for healthy law enforcement members who don’t limp from the front of the building to the REAR DOOR.
Our experience was this is a new kind of waterboarding, just without the water. On Monday the 13th we had to go to the ER due to intense knee pain. Thanks a lot Cumberland County Commissioners. No one cares about handicap access until YOU need it, then you find out you’re screwed even at government buildings.
Take a look at the Federal Courthouse at 156 Federal St., no handrail going up the stairs at the MAIN ENTRANCE in the front. In the rear there’s one handicap parking space for retired District Judge Gignoux, even after he’s been dead for 37 years.
